I set my domain ALIAS to custom.domain.toddle.site (the DNS provider doesn't support CNAME on main domains).

Setting up the domain has been pending for a day now. Could someone advise why I'm not able to continue?

Cloudflare when toddle is currently hosted only supports CNAME records

We are working on a solution but unfortunately there are no simple options, so I can’t give a timeline at this point

But does that mean you can't point the root domain to my Toddle?

I’ve some methods to do it but it depends on your domain registrar if they have the needed settings I believe

My domain registar doesn't allow the CNAME on the root domain and what I'm able to gather this seems to be a rather standard practice. Shouldn't this be something that Toddle would let you know upfront before you subscribe or am I mistaking? I've never had this issue with other similar services.

It is not ideal, but it is also not uncommon.

This is basically why the www subdomain exists.
If you choose www then most browsers will hide it by default.

Then set a redirect from root to www

Alright, I haven't see it before, but now I know to keep my eyes opened about it. But so, in conclusion, no suggestions how to tackle this?

No the solution is right above. You use the www subdomain. That is why exists. And the end user won’t know the difference.

Didn’t you have another method for pointing root domains? It’s in another help thread somewhere

Or was it that the registrar needed to support cname at root level
  • I guess that was it

You can also move your nameservers to a dns provider that supports root level CNAME but that is not always an option

A few registrars support that. It is sometimes called aname. We moved to easyDNS. They support it

Alright, got it solved. Created the CNAME from www and then redirected the non-www to www. Thank you everybody 🤝
